Paulette believes providing products to papercrafters is a huge privilege. When asked how I feel about my job, grateful is my first response. It's a huge responsibility and one I take very seriously. But it's also one I absolutely love - I have the best possible job!
Developing products that paper crafters want and need is our motivation. When developing new products we step into the minds of papercrafters and ask ourselves 'What would I love to have?'. Once that's answered we develop a great new idea and create it. That's how the Cardmaker's(tm) Creative Packs were born. I wanted to have a wealth of papers all together-vellum, glassine, cardstock, parchment, paper, glimmer paper, etc. It's also how the Busy Scrapper's Solution books were designed. I thought: What would a person whose life is busy but who also wants to scrapbook want?
But inspiration for our products also has many other sources.
We also keep an eye on the latest scrapbooking trends or a new look and then decide how best to bring it to market. The new Vintage sarapapers(tm) is an example of this. I also have some extremely talented help with Sara Naumann, my marketing director, and Teresa Welch, my vice president-they share my passion for creating new, wonderful things! We do love new!!
The thing I love most about papercraft is it's versatility!
Like many papercrafters, I've had a life-long love of all things paper. As a little one I loved making crepe paper flowers and stationary stores have always been a favorite place to roam. I love that papercrafting offers a familiar form (paper, scissors, glue) with pretty much unlimited results. And it's so forgiving. If you're not happy with what you've done, it's only a sheet of paper and you're on to the next one.
If there's one piece of advice papercrafters should remember it's to have fun! Learn to trust yourself and then to allow that little girl (or boy) inside you to have a great time playing with paper-maybe not making 'art' but just playing and having fun. You'll be delighted with what you can do!
