I have a clean and simple style that’s almost linear. I started scrapbooking 8 years ago when I stumbled upon a boxed kit. I purchased it along with every idea book I could find and my journey began! I’ve had a love of art my entire life so this just seemed like a perfect fit. I’m a pretty simple person in that, I don’t take a lot of risks or do things dramatic. I think that conservative style just spilled over into my scrapbooking. I would say that I’m a ‘shabby chic’ wannabe! I love the look, but it doesn’t come naturally to me.

Inspiration for me can come from anywhere! Literally, from the latest scrapbook magazine to the local flea market. I usually consult a ‘sketch’ from various magazines, idea books or my own notebook for a starting point, but in the end I usually end up changing so much of the design that you can’t even see the sketch! I’m a big sketcher, but my problem is I often lose my sketches! I try to put most of them on computer paper because they are harder to lose, then file them in a folder. I’m also so inspired by our new design team. The techniques and projects they create push me to step out and try new things.

I believe that the right embellishment can make or break a page. My pages and projects are clean and simple and the focus remains on the photos. There are also so many wonderful products available now, that it’s not hard to find the perfect embellishment to finish a page.

There are so many creative possibilities with chipboard! Right now, my favourite product would have to be Everlasting Keepsakes chipboard! I love it and can’t get enough! It’s always the perfect embellishment because it starts out raw and you can do anything to it. Paint it, chalk it, ink it, sand it, tear it, cut it . . . so many possibilities. My favourite altering mediums are paint and aging ink!

Organisation strikes inspiration! My best tip for scrapbooking is one that doesn’t come easy to me – be organized! My scrapping room is a work in progress but when everything has a place and is in it, it’s easier to sit down and scrap! Most of the time, I have too much stuff and no where to put it. But when everything is neatly put away, inspiration is more likely to strike!
