I LIKE MY PAGES TO SAY THE RIGHT THING
You will find my office walls covered with bits of text, lines from poems and quotes to inspire me, motivate me or just make me laugh. Also, I have always loved working with textures of any sort. I am a quilter as well as a scrapbooker and artist and I think that is how the love of anything tactile seeped into my scrapbooking.
I NEED AN IDEA FOR A LAYOUT BEFORE I BEGIN
I always have a thought in my head, the colour scheme or a technique I want to try. Then I just lay down the background colour and start building. Once I have things organized, I can start putting it together “for real.” Although often the image in my head ends up completely changed by the time the project is finished! But that is the discovery of the art, isn’t it?
I’M INSPIRED BY COLOUR!
I look at how colours are used together, their placement, their shapes in relation to one another. I also love to use meaningful text in my projects and am often driven by the need to say the “right” thing in the “right” way. I love it when my projects take on a deeper meaning than simply preserving a memory.
I TAKE A PROBLEM-SOLVING APPROACH TO SCRAPBOOKING
When I approach product development, I try to think about how I can solve problems – problems with having enough time to scrapbook, problems with not knowing how to do it but wanting to, problems with feeling overwhelmed with all of the choices. That is why many of my products are focused on making the hobby easier for more people to participate in. I like solutions!
I LOVE THE VERSATILITY OF USING ACRYLIC PAINT
It comes in inexpensive, juicy colours and I can create my beloved textures with it. It dries quickly so I don’t have to wait around, and you can change just any scrapbook product to match perfectly with just a little paint. It’s what I use to create my designs for products as well as pages.
I LIKE MY SCRAPPING TO BE MESS FREE!
I love to use foam stamps but they can be messy to clean up if you are using more than one (like for a title). So, to make the process quicker, I lay a baby wipe on my table and after I stamp, I simply rub the foam over the baby wipe to clean it. When that baby wipe is used up, I just throw it away and repeat the process!
