Details, details, and more…details!
I love to add details to my work, both my design for products and my actual Scrapbooking and memory projects. Some might think that details means a piece with a lot going on, but details can be subtle…for instance I love to add a little heart in almost everything that I do, or hide my initials in a project, or maybe add some cute dots around an element to add some flare to things. If I had to used five different words to describe my style I would say: Details, Color, Dimension, Collage, and Heartfelt.
Sometimes I’m organised, sometimes not!
I often sketch out an idea on a napkin at restaurant or an old receipt from my purse as I am driving, most likely lose it, but try to do a page of the idea and recreate it later. Other times, I just go for it!!! I have the paper, embellishments, and photos, and just…start! It is really fun and freeform this way.
I’m always inspired by three things
1. Family, friends, loved ones, and my darling pets.2. Life…the details of the world, the colours of nature, just life as it is with all its hard times, great times, and everything in between.3. and finally…Deadlines!
I like my projects to “ooze a style”
The style may change, cute, modern, vintage, shabby chic, distressed, clean, simple, busy patterns, they all look so different, but I love them all. I get asked all the time what my style of scrapping is, but I think I like it all so much. If I really like a photo and want to highlight it, then I usually create a very simple clean page as to show off the photo. Other times I may be in crazy or creative mood, and my pages are covered from end to end with details and embellishments, what ever I do, I go all the way.
Scissors are the essential tool
I love basic tools like Fiskars 12x12 trimmer and Zig writer pens! And I love embellishments…But if I had to choose just one product I would say it would be a pair of scissors. You can create anything! You can design whatever you want, the sky is the limit…with a pair of scissors the options are endless!
Adapt the rules to suit your style
This can sometimes be a challenge with all of the things you hear about designs elements and rules. I feel like you can still use a new technique, or learn a new skill, but adapt it to your own style. If things look good to you, then they are good! It is all about personal creativity and individual style.
