Latest Tip:I love to ink and paint but don't like the mess it leaves behind. And I am a scrooge so I won't pay lots of $'s to buy a special mat. But You can make it with some wrapping paper and contact sheeting. Tear off wrapping paper to desired size, flatten and cover with contact sheeting, like a school book....

I cannot believe September is nearly over … where has the year gone? I made myself so many promises to keep and yet I don’t think I’ve done any! More scrapping, go overseas (that is on the back burner for a while yet) and to save for a house. Although, the last one is coming along okay, just a little slowly for my impatience!
My scrap room is coming along nicely, although I find as soon as I tidy it, a few days later it is messy again. Yet what have I got to show for it? All I’ve been able to make lately is a few cards, tags for birthday presents and perhaps two layouts. I just wish I could find more time - but don’t we all? I wish I had more time for a lot of things!
Work is going well, we’re in the midst of putting together our Christmas and Masters issues, and awaiting our second annual ‘Pink’ issue to go on sale next month. This one is called Scrapbooking for a Cause, so make sure you check it out at your newsagent or supermarket - 10c from every copy will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (a charity close to my own heart).
A project I can share with you is something I did a little while back. It’s based on a dress form that Cassandra Glass made, and was published in Scrapbooking Memories Vol 10 No 2. I admired this project from the very beginning and decided it was finally time to make my own! It’s smiliar to Cass’s but I’ve altered a few things that I just had to have! I love white and gold, so this was perfect! I was going to give her as a present but I love her too much to give away! So I’ve got two more I am going to make for friend’s birthdays that are coming up later in the year … but as I mentioned earlier, October is fast approaching and I doubt I’ll get too much more time! Better get cracking! Anyway, here is a pic of it. Hope you love her as much as I do!
I’ve also been dabbling in some hat and fascinator making for the Races for myself and a few friends. I just love making them so much! It’s always fun to get dressed up and pop on a head piece and go out for the day! It’s one of my favourite things to do, followed by a close second - making the actual hat! I’ll make sure I take a few photos at home and pop them up here when I can.
As I am writing this, its a cool Monday afternoon in Sydney and the office is very quiet around me - Kristy and Sharryn aren’t in today. So it’s a very slow Monday and I can’t wait to go home and hopefully, get *some* scrapping done. Hope you’re all well, and are scrapping up a storm.
just a quick one from me today - If you haven’t already seen Cassie’s Guest Post on the Kaisercraft blog, be sure to check it out now. Here’s the link:
Cassie shares a little insight into her daily work at SBM headquarters for you. It’s a great little piece about her busy role behind the scenes of Scrapbooking Memories - way to go Cass!

So look out for our special edition – Scrapbooking for a Cause.
Go on, do your bit for the National Breast Cancer Foundation – join Scrapbooking Memories in the quest to find a cure!
So a while ago I mentioned that one of my friends had the brilliant idea of having a market stall where we can all sell our various arts, crafts and so on. SOme of you may be wonering if we ever ended up doing anything about it, well guess what? We actually did it! We spent weeks, days and many, many hours creating and finally we had enough product to sell at out very own stand. We held our very first market stall at the Kirribilli Markets last month, and despite hideous weather, we had an absolute blast!
While we didn’t really sell all that much, it was great to be a part of the ‘market’ community! I love markets of any kind and I must admit I was probably a little too preoccupied with what other people were selling, but it was a great day and we plan to do it again really soon!
Here are just a few pics from the day……sorry they are so small!
some of my cards and gift tags for sale
Canvas paintings by my friend, Sonja - aren’t they fab!?
Framed prints by my friend, Sonja
shot of the stand - look how miserable the weather is!
Shot of the stand (before we changed it to the above layouts) with Sonja and her boyfriend, James (who might I add was a massive help on the day!)
All in all it was a fab day and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make a little extra cash out of thier hobby!
But be warned, the tempation will be there to spend your hard-earned dollars on other people’s products at the market! TRUST ME!
Well a very belated HELLO from me! I can’t believe how fast the past year has flown by.
It has been a huge year of change for myself and my family and we have absolutely loved all the new challenges we have faced over the past 12 months.
With me going back to work, our daughter moving out to further her studies at University, our eldest son moving out for a taste of the bachelor life (then back in) and buying a new car in just three months, we didn’t know if we were coming or going.
I am happy to report though that we have all settled in to our new routines and life is back to normal. Well, as normal as life gets with a family of eight!
I’ve had quite a few people ask me what it’s like to work for SBM. My answer to that is simply AWESOME! To come to work each day and see the works of our extremely talented scrapbookers in real life is a joy. Page after page of pure perfection is my idea of heaven.
I am constantly in awe of the different techniques and innovative use of product that you girls come up with.
I love the challenges we set our Masters and Creative Team and wait with baited breath each month to see what they’ll send in. It’s amazing how different a group of scrapbookers can produce layouts and BTP projects so diverse from the others, but with the same pack of goodies
Then there’s the new products that are constantly coming out on the market. Many hours are spent oohing and aahing over pretty papers and gorgeous embellishments, not to mention those fabulous machines that make our scrapbooking so much easier and even more fun. It’s such a shame I’m on a budget as my mantra lately has become ‘I’ll have one of those’.
Of course, there are the two gorgeous girls that I work with, Kristy and Cass. They are both an absolute delight to work with and have made me very welcome as part of the SBM team.
So that’s my very belated first blog post and I promise you it won’t take me another whole year to say hi again.
Until next time
xxx
P.S I’m really looking forward to seeing your Masters entries again this year so get scrapping and send them in!
It’s only a few more sleeps ‘till we’ll be on a flight headed to Bris Vegas for Australia’s annual Scrapbook & Papercraft Convention & Expo! While Cass and I are excited about the event, we’re both going a little crazy trying to put the final touches on everything and make sure we’re organised! This year, we’re very lucky to be joined by Emily McQueen and Jane Clark from Australian Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft magazine. Jane is running some amazing cardmaking classes, along with Cassandra Glass and Rachel Richter over the long weekend – I just hope I can spare a few moments to sneak away and check them out!
If you’re heading to the show, be sure to book your classes soon as they are selling out fast!
As I said, Cassie, myself, Emily and Jane will all be there, so please come and say hello at the stand! We don’t often get the chance to meet our readers so make sure you pop by!
As well as our great classes on offer, we’ll also have a Masters Display Area and Inspiration Corner, purely for your pleasure – you can check out fab projects by our talented Masters, and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the show as you soak up the ideas from our Inspiration Corner. Plus, we’ll also be offering some amazing subscription offers and selling issues of Scrapbooking Memories, Australian Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft and Creating Keepsakes – current and past issues will be available, so if you’ve missed any over the past few months, be sure to drop by!
Looking forward to meeting many of you at the show! Only 10 more sleeps – see you there!
The time has come again for a long weekend, a visit from the Easter Bunny and a promise of a new diet! I am really looking forward to the extra couple of days break. Although I love my job, when there are a million deadlines and things to plan, it is nice to escape them for a little while! I am heading south for a couple of days with the family, and then heading back in time to spend Easter lunch with my boyfriend’s family. So what does that leave me with? Deadlines and more things to plan! It seems even in my personal life I cannot escape it! I need to organise presents for everyone, and of course some handmade cards and gift tags. Lets hope I can get them done in time!
I just finished a baby album for a friend of mine to give to her at her baby shower and can you believe it, in the rush I completely forgot to take some pictures of it! I must ask her to take some pictures for me! Other than that I haven’t had much of a chance to do any scrapping, just the odd card here and there.
I hope you all have a great break, with as much or as little chocolate as you like! Enjoy the time with family and friends and most of all, stay safe!
