Breast Cancer Projects
By Angella Peardon

Creating your border

Step 1
Open your program and create a page size 8.5 x 11.

Step 2
Click on type on the right hand side menu, your font menu will open up.
I have chosen Arial font, type in a letter X

Step 3
Click ok.

Step 4
Right click on your letter X. A sub menu will appear, go down to multiply.

Step 5
Another sub menu will appear click in the number of copies and type the number 8. Then in the spacing section, put -0.2. Click on the direction arrow pointing right then OK.

Step 6
Now you have a row of X’s that you can move around. Position them at the top of the page.

Step 7
Copy and paste your row of X’s and position so they are just overlapping.

Step 8
Select all, then using your join selected element tool, join all together. Now they are joined and your border has been created. You can use this technique with any shape.

Your Breast cancer Symbol

Step 9
I found this symbol on the internet through Google images. Save to your desktop and then open your pazzles program. Bring the image through by opening your yellow folder at top left hand corner. Always change your files of type to all files.

Step 10
Your image is now in your program. It is not ready to cut yet, as we need to
Vectorize the image, so the program can recognize it.

Step 11
While the image is selected, click on your auto trace button, on the right hand side.

Step 12
Now another sub menu will appear; this is your vectorization menu. Your mouse will turn to a wand click on your image.

Step 13
Now your image will appear twice in another menu, click OK.

Step 14
Sometimes this will take a little time for your image to vectorize. You will see your two images now. Your vectorized image will always have a box around it. You can delete the original image.

Step 15
You have a vectorized image now. Find the erase tool (on your left hand side menu).

Step 16
Now using your erase tool click on your box around the image to erase the box.

Step 17
Now the box has been removed, the cutter will cut any line that appears on your screen, so if you look closely at the image you will see pink and black lines in your symbol. So click your mouse onto the pink parts to remove like the diagram.

Step 18
Now we just going to take the colour out of the symbol just so you can see it better, using your colour menu, select the symbol then click on the x in the colour box (B is for the body and P is for the pen line). You only want to remove the body colour.

Step 19
Once you can see the body more clearly now we just have to remove one more piece to make the cut a whole piece.

Step 20
You can see here the parts pulled away.

Step 21
You are ready to cut. I have used prismatic cardstock for this project with Blade 2, pressure 15.
