Welcome

Welcome to this month’s special edition of Scrapper’s Choice. The team and I are extremely excited to announce that once again we have joined the quest to find a cure for Breast Cancer. We’re continuing to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) fund much-needed research into the prevention and cure for breast cancer. This is a cause that is very close to all of our hearts and as October is Breast Cancer month, we are donating 10 cents from every issue of Vol 11 No 9 sold in Australian newsagencies, major chain stores and supermarkets to the NBCF – so keep an eye our for our very special edition of Vol 11 no 9 – Scrapbooking for a Cause.

Breast Cancer awareness is something the team at Scrapbooking Memories take very seriously and we encourage you all to support. We’ve had a fantastic time bringing this issue together for you and we hope you enjoy the informative and moving stories we’ve compiled. From interviews with scrappers who have survived tough cancer battles, to representatives of major organisations, our aim is to give you as much information as we can about Breast Cancer, while inspiring you to create and treasure every moment. We know the stories these women have shared with us will make you realise just how precious each day is and how important it is to be aware of changes in your body.

As well as Breast Cancer related articles and features, this month’s special issue includes a gorgeous card feature, fabulous galleries, awesome competitions, all the latest products and news to keep you busy. Plus, SBM online is as busy as ever so be sure to check out what all the excitement is about at www.scrapbookingmemories.com.au

Until next month, stay positive and thank you to all those generous people for helping us raise funds for such an important cause. If you’d like any more information on breast cancer research, or would like to make a donation yourself, visit the NBCF website www.nbcf.org.au

Scrapbooking for a Cause is on sale October 14th – so be sure to grab a copy and help us in the search to find a cure for Breast Cancer!

Take care,

CAPTURE THE SPIRIT
With Sprit of Tasmania

Capture the Spirit is an exciting search to find and reward Australia's quiet achievers in the world of photography. The people behind Bass Strait's iconic ships are looking for photographs by enthusiastic and talented Australian snappers that celebrate and engage with the beauty of Tasmania.

Whether it's capturing that idyllic shot of the sun setting over stunning Cradle Mountain, a group of friends sharing the delights of Hobart, or a couple bushwalking in picturesque Wine Glass Bay, Spirit of Tasmania want to share your pictures with the world. And what's more, there are great prizes to be won including digital cameras and holidays!

The Capture the Spirit photography collection will be displayed online as part of a specially designed virtual gallery. There's a Best Kid's Photo Award category, which is open to those aged 12 years and under, and Spirit of Tasmania is also linking up with the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program by including a special charity category entitled 'My Favourite Tassie Devil'. The judges will be looking for creativity so perhaps a Looney Tunes style Taz or your Tasmanian Devil tie will come in handy! Of course, photographs of the real thing will be accepted too. So what are you waiting for?

Entry to this competition is via website only and entrants are asked to upload images that are a minimum of 300dpi.

Autumn -The leaves are falling and the landscape is taking on an enchanting burnt orange hue. If you've been inspired by this stunning season, send us in your pages!

Candid camera - Sometimes the best photos are the ones we don’t plan, the ones that are unexpected and especially those taken when the subject has no idea they are being watched! We want to see these candid shots on your layouts, so share them with us today.

Pregnancy - Nine months of joy, pain, anticipation, agony, excitement, wonder, fear and happiness – the list of emotions felt during this time is endless! But this is one of life’s most precious journeys and we want to celebrate it. Show us your pages dedicated to the miracle of pregnancy.

The following are projects and layouts we are always on the lookout for:

BEYOND THE PAGE ITEMS
It's time to think outside the square, or in this case - off the page. Take your scrapping to the next dimension and show us what you've got! We are constantly on the look out for your original and innovative beyond the page projects!

Do you want to be on the COVER?

The Scrapbooking Memories team is always on the lookout for outstanding layouts to feature on our cover. The following are a few guidelines we look for in a cover layout:

* A well-composed 5inx7in photo (babies to adults) that is engaging and has eye contact, high resolution and without pixilation.
* A clean and aesthetically pleasing layout.
* Attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship.
* Preferably no large-letter titles at the top of the page.
