This is a page two of a two page layout. The other page is only journaling so there's not much to show and to be honest I'm not sure I'm brave enough to share that part of my story with the world wide web. Basically it's a story of a broken heart and the way to healing. That's the ultra short version.
I had a very clear idea about what I wanted to achieve with this layout. I had the photo, the journaling and the Ovid quote which has been a favorite of mine for years.
I did quite a bit of work with my photo. Inspired by the textured gray paper from Tina Chamber's I Promise kit I wanted a sketched look. I prepared the photo first by adding a lot of contrast to it and made it black and white. I then transferred it to my layout and changed the blending mode to Pin Light. I erased everything apart from my face. I used the burn tool to make the outlines of my face by adding shadows which almost made it look like my face was pressed against the paper from behind. It took a while to get it to look right and when I had finished it I still thought there was something missing. So I took a break and during that break I went and supply shopping and found Sending Hope and as I was browsing through the files I saw this awesome word art and knew it would be perfect both in style and content. It added so much to the layout. |
