Using the Negative Space
Using the negative space of a die-cut works best on a shape that looks good as a silhouette. Cut the paper just slightly bigger than the die-cut shape. Place the paper on the die and cut. Punch holes around the perimeter of the shape and thread coordinating embroidering thread through the holes. The negative space of a shape can be used on cards, scrapbook pages and home décor. It can also be used as a stencil and used to embellish your favorite clothes.
Paper Chain
To create a paper chain, cut a strip of thin paper tall enough to cover the height of the die. Determine the width by measuring the outermost edges of the shape and accordion fold the paper just inside the cutting rule on each side. (Note: Three folded layers are recommended). Lay the folded paper on the die. The cutting rule should extend on either side of the folded paper where the shape is to connect. Line up two chains together to fit across a card or scrapbook page.
Faux Flowers
Die-cut nesting circles out of coordinating papers. Layer the circles together and secure with a brad in the middle. Once the circles are in place use scissors to cut fringe around the edges creating a faux flower look. Use this same technique of making one shape look like something else with Shamrocks made into flowers or Buttons used as hinges.
