The magic of mattingMatting is a great technique to enhance the elements on your page, pull a particular item into the spotlight or add depth to your overall design.Sizing it upStart by cutting a piece of cardstock about 5mm larger than the object you want to matt and mount the item on the cardstock. This gives a nice, even border all the way around. From there, experiment with the width, shape and texture of your layers - leave overhang for embellishing, tear parts of a layer for added interest or vary the number of layers you use. The possibilities and combinations are endless.
