This technique is a great way to alter Stamp-It Flourish Alphamix Alphabet chipboard pieces using the newest products from Ranger, distributed by Stamp-It Australia.
- Choose the letters you would like to use from the Alphamix alphabet. The Alphamixes are already coloured, however if you wish to use raw chipboard, paint the entire surface using Ranger Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers in the colour of your choice.
- Cover the letter with Ranger Inkssentials Crackle medium. Leave for a few hours (overnight for best results) to completely dry and ‘crack’. This product only needs one coat. Thinner coats will provide smaller cracks. Thicker coats will give you a much thicker and defined crackle.
- Dab a contrasting or darker colour of Ranger Adirondack Acrylic Paint over the entire surface, working the colour into the cracks.
- Wipe the surface with a damp cloth or towel. This will take the excess surface paint away, and will leave the cracks filled with paint, showing the definition of the crackle.
- Attach alpahbet pieces to your layout!

1.
Experiment with different coloured inks, for varied effects. Try the same effect with a sepia distress ink, a colour a few shades darker than your cardstock, as well as a VersaMark ink. Each of these will give a completely different result.
2.
There are a range of sprayable inks available, which are great for achieving a mottled effect.
3.
Add extra colour and interest to journaling tags and accents, by applying an ink effect to the background, then allowing it to dry and writing over the top.
