  • Change the colour of metal embellishments with StazOn ink, it saves you having to buy other colours.
  • When using a lot of photos make sure you still have plenty of space left on your page for balance.
  • For funky embellishments, mat scraps of patterned paper and ink along edges.
  • Create a funky background by using quilting and patchwork techniques.
  • For an easy alternative to sepia photos, place black and white shots onto a cream background – it had the same effect!
  • Use cardstock letters as a stencil to create as many coordinating letters as you like.
  • Strips of patterned paper can be used in place of ribbon for embellishing.
  • If you make a spelling mistake when journalling, re-write the work on coloured cardstock and use as an embellishment – no-one will ever know!
  • Go free-style on your projects – experiment with doodling, different mediums etc and create your own style.
  • Create a page where journalling is the main focus, rather than the photo for something different.
  • For greater impact, digitally alter the saturation and contrast of your photos.
  • To give your layout a ‘fresh’ feel, keep a lot of white as background.
